Case Study #1:

Our customer was rebuilding torque converters. During the rebuild process, the converter was being cut in half with a torch, creating an irregularly shaped surface. This surface was a locating surface in the chucking application. Existing chucks would tilt the part, causing the machining operation to create an out-of-round bore.

We designed a chuck with built-in locators that compensated for the irregular shape. The chuck was designed to clamp and hold the part well within the customer's CPK tolerances, which had not been done before. The solution has now been running for seven years.
