Case Study #2:

Our customer was machining diesel engine flywheels. These flywheels were being thrown by the machines, which had not yet resulted in operator injury but had put a hole in a cinderblock wall. We were referred into this situation because of our success with the customer's other plants. We identified the problem: the part was actually being forced out of the chuck in the operation. Our competition had proposed very expensive special chucks to solve the problem. Our solution was to use a standard chuck with special top tooling. After installation, the part ran flawlessly and is still running today after 10 years.
